We are finally getting closer to the the good wife returns. Added episode stills of the first season 7 episode named Grunts.

“Grunts” – Alicia attempts to revive her struggling law career by representing arrestees seeking release on bail in bond court, where she meets attorney Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo), who competes for her clients. Also, Peter brings in national strategist Ruth Eastman (Margo Martindale) to help with his presidential campaign, and creates an interesting dynamic with Eli in the process, on the seventh season premiere of THE GOOD WIFE, Sunday, Oct. 4 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Jane Curtin guest stars as Judge Farley and journalist Mo Rocca returns as news anchor Ted Willoughby.

A potential Joe Biden candidacy may be the least of Hillary Clinton’s problems in her race to secure the Democratic nomination for presdient.

Good Wife exec producer Robert King tells TVLine that art will indeed imitate real-life politics when Peter launches his own bid for the Democratic ticket. “If Peter runs, he is running against Hillary,” he confirms, conceding that it’s “amazing” CBS is “letting us do that.”

King adds that Season 7’s campaign storyline will parallel the official primary timeline so that when “the Iowa Caucus happens [on Feb. 1], it’s going to happen in our show. We’re trying to parallel what’s happening on our show with what’s happening in reality.”

Of course, the bold storytelling strategy presents inherent challenges. “The difficult thing for us is we started writing these scripts in June, so you’re always kind of guessing where things are going,” King concedes. “And we’re stunned in politics how things change overnight. We’re not sure if Biden will enter the race at this point. We have the ability to ADR some lines in if that’s necessary, but we’re kind of playing the betting game at this point.”

The Good Wife’s cast just keeps growing.

Peter Gallagher has joined the CBS legal drama in a recurring role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Gallagher will play Irving Carver, a witty and sophisticated attorney who has been dispatched to Lockhart/Agos/Lee by his client, conservative billionaire Reese Dipple (recurring guest Oliver Platt). Irving favors a civilized and intelligent debate over bullying but is not afraid to do whatever it takes to make sure the firm is pushing his client’s agenda forward.

Platt recurred last season on the series, sharing many scenes with Diane (Christine Baranski). However, he is now a series regular on the freshman NBC medical drama Chicago Med.

Co-creators and co-showrunners Robert and Michelle King revealed to THR in an interview in May that they had a backup plan if Platt was unable to return in season seven.

“There was this wonderful relationship we saw being developed in the later half of the year with Christine Baranski’s character, Diane, and Oliver Platt. We’re going to either develop that relationship more or bring in someone from Oliver Platt’s world that will continue that relationship with Diane,” said Robert King.

Gallagher joins Margo Martindale and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as new additions for the upcoming season. The series recently said farewell to three series regulars: Archie Panjabi, Matthew Goode and Makenzie Vega. Vega will continue to appear in a recurring role.

Gallagher recurred on the most recent season of Law & Order: SVU. His other credits include Covert Affairs and The O.C.

Will Gardner may be gone, but Josh Charles isn’t done with The Good Wife.

After his gut wrenching, shocking death on screen in season five, Charles has remained a part of The Good Wife family behind the scenes to direct three episodes of the hit CBS drama. And he’s not done!

“I would love to return,” Charles tells E! News. “I don’t know. I was supposed to do one last year, and then the schedule didn’t work out with Wet Hot [American Summer: First Day of Camp production]. That’s my family over there. But I don’t know about this season. Probably not because I’m busy this year but it’s possible.”

And while fans still haven’t gotten over the controversy surrouding The Good Wife’s CGI-ed final scene between Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) last season, Charles didn’t feel all that strongly about the situation.

“I don’t,” Charles said when asked if he had any reaction to the controversy. “I’m sorry, I don’t. I’m so sorry.”

When he looks back on his time on The Good Wife, Charles has only positive memories with his former co-stars.

“I don’t know if I have a favorite scene,” Charles says. “I don’t know. I just have great memories. I love the show, I love those people. Actually I was just texting with Christine [Baranski] recently and I hope to see her when I get back and have a lunch.”

While Charles is about to star on Masters of Sex this season, he’s glad he was able to fit Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp production into his schedule so he could play the ridiculous, hilarious villain in a few episodes.
